Dominic c. - Photographer - dreamer - passionate - geek

Dominic C. has taken his love of photography and turned it into a lifelong journey of storytelling and artistic personal growth. Having a passion for photography from youth and an eye for the beauty of the mundane and commonplace, Dominic learned the value and necessity of comfort with his subject matter. From his first Canon SureShot Supreme in the ’80s to his father’s Canon EOS-1N, he dabbled in the art of boudoir photography before leaping into the world of nature. These days, he is rarely found with anything other than a beloved Nikon in hand.

Dominic was first encouraged and inspired by his 6th-grade teacher, whose own travel experiences brought the bigger world into the classroom through slides and photos, and stories. He remembers reading the many National Geographic in the classroom and daydreaming of travel and adventure. Few people have been able to capture his attention and enthrall his imagination in such a way.

Dominic believes in the beauty of realism, and he follows a simple ruleset when it comes to photography; no edits that remove or alter permanence, no posing, no “rules” when it comes to letting the subject matter tell its story. The story is in the raw truth of the moment and his goal is to retain that truth. There is a bigger world out there, one so often unseen by the masses. The story of us is all seen through the lens of his camera. At the end of the day, it is all about showing the similarity within the differences. Showing the world is a big place, but we are all connected.

When not making art, Dominic spends his free time exploring a wide variety of hobbies with his fiancé and their dogs. He enjoys travel and gaming and has a love of nature in all its forms. Dominic finds inspiration in the works of Ansel Adams, Eliot Porter, Fay Godwin, Michael Kenna, and Nicéphore Niépce. Looking back on his life, he regrets only not focusing on what he loves earlier. So often, life takes us down an unexpected path. Through it all though, these mistakes and obstacles were just another lesson learned in the exploration of his true calling.

Dominic is proud of his achievements in the world of photography, from placing 1st in multiple categories 3 years in a row in Palm Beach Gardens, FL city contest to earning Best of Lessons.com in 2019.
